About Me

Dr. Umar Saleem is a postdoctoral researcher specializing in prognostics and health management (PHM) of aircraft electrical systems and advanced energy technologies. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China, where his dissertation focused on developing  AI-driven models for state of health (SOH) estimation and remaining useful life (RUL) prediction of batteries, IGBTs, and aero-engines. His research combines deep learning, system modeling, and experimental validation to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of energy storage and aerospace power systems.

Dr. Saleem has published multiple first-author Q1 journal articles in Electrochimica Acta, Energies, and Computers & Electrical Engineering, and presented at leading IEEE international conferences. With prior industry experience in high-voltage substations, smart grids, and renewable integration, he bridges the gap between academic innovation and practical engineering applications. Passionate about collaboration, mentorship, and applied research, he continues to advance solutions at the intersection of AI, power electronics, and sustainable energy systems.
